Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal has very effective in the past ten years. It has become the preferred method of hair removal compared to other methods such as waxing, plucking, shaving and electrolysis. The best candidate for laser hair removal is someone that has darker coarse hair and lighter skin.
Laser hair removal is most commonly used for the following areas:
- Face and Chin
- Underarms
- Bikini area
- Legs and Arms
- Neck, back, and shoulders
How does it work?: A concentrated beam of heat and Intensive Pulsed Light(IPL) is aimed at the hair follicle. The light and heat is absorbed by the dark pigment in the hair, which damages the follicle enough to retard future growth. (White and blonde hair do not have pigment to absorb the light and are therefore unaffected).
How many treatments do I need?: Hair grows in different phases (anagen, telogen, catagen) and the IPL only affects the active growing hair follicle in the anagen phase. For this reason several different session are required to damage and kill the hair follicle. We recommend 4-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
