Chemical Peels
As we age, dead skin cells do not slough off as easily as they did when we were teens, causing the skin to appear dull. Light, medium and deep peels are a popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure used to remove the skin’s top layer to improve the appearance of sun-damage, uneven pigment, fine lines and wrinkles. Improving the evenness of color and texture in your skin creates a youthful look and restores a healthy, luminous and radiant appearance.
Using PCA SKIN’s wide line of peel solutions or formulas we can customize a peel for your specific needs. After a brief skin consultation and patient history we can help you determine what an appropriate peel is.
***Microdermadrasion, Dermaplaning, and Microneedling can all be added to enhance the outcome of your peel.
Preparation For A Peel:
- If you are lactating, pregnant or may be pregnant, only a select number of PCA SKIN treatments are appropriate. Consult your OB/GYN before receiving a treatment.
- Having a good daily skin care regimen will reduce the risk of complications and typically lead to better treatment results.
- Do not go to a tanning bed two weeks before a treatment.
- It is recommended that extended sun exposure be avoided, especially in the 10 days before your treatment. (Wear a broad spectrum SPF of 30 or higher and reapply appropriately. Wear a wide-brim hat.)
- STOP the use of Retina, Retinol, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Avage, EpiDuo, Ziana, and high-percentage AHA and BHA products THREE DAYS PRIOR TO TREATMENT.
Post Peel Tips:
- After receiving a PCA SKIN professional treatment, you should not necessarily expect to “peel”, depending on the depth of the peel and how you have been caring for your skin prior to the peel. Light flaking in a few localized areas for three to five days and residual redness for approximately one to 12 hours post-procedure is typical.
- It is recommended that makeup not be applied post-treatment, as it is ideal to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight; however, makeup may be applied 15 minutes after the treatment if necessary.
- Keep skin well moisturized.
- Try to avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or greater and wear a hat.
- Do not go to a tanning bed for at least two weeks post-procedure.
- Do not pick or pull on any loosening or peeling skin. This could potentially cause hyperpigmentation.
- Do not have electrolysis, facial waxing or use depilatories for approximately five days.
- Discuss with your esthetician or nurse about when to restart your daily skin regimen.
